Scott Ruby: Head Freshman Coach

Coach Ruby is an Arizona native and attended Saguaro High School, Arizona State University and Arizona State University College of Law. He has coached youth football for over 15 years and one year of varsity. He is married to Vicki and they have three children, one of whom played and coached football at Chaparral.

Dave Brennan: Freshmen Offensive Line/Special Teams

Coach Brennan has been coaching youth football and baseball for over 30 years, with the last 10 focusing on football. Dave is a graduate of Coronado High School and Arizona State University. Coach Brennan has worked with teams from Coronado and Saguaro High Schools. Coach is married to Mary, and they have three children that attended Scottsdale High Schools, with his oldest son, David, having won several State championships coaching baseball at Chaparral before Paradise Valley Community College.


Norman Calhoun

Coach Calhoun is in his second year as a Chaparral Football Coach. In his first year he was the Wide Receiver’s Coach, this year he’s the Offensive Coordinator. He brings seven years of youth coaching and Board membership experience from the Scottsdale Youth Football Firebird’s organization, as well as speed and agility training to the program. He has held several positions during his coaching tenure, from Head Coach to Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach. Along with a range of coaching success, six straight playoff appearances, three City Championships, two Regional Championships and one National Championship. As a player, Coach Calhoun played high school football (RB, Slot, KR & PR), ran track setting a state 4 x 1 relay record during the State Championship’s in Miami, Florida. In college, Calhoun earned 1St Team All-Conference and CIAA Freshman of The Year honors. Coach Calhoun majored in Early Childhood Education before starting his several of his own businesses, which is a clear reason why Calhoun has been a part of three kid’s charities in the Valley. Calhoun currently resides in Scottsdale with his wife Ivelisse and two kids.

Alex is currently a Senior at ASU where he will earn degrees in Actuarial Science and Economics. He started coaching flag football immediately after graduating from Red Mountain High School in 2013, and a year later was a coach for the unlimited weight Superstition Pop Warner team. This is his first year coaching high school football.
